Bees Support Local School

  • by

With the success of The Lionesses this summer, Halterworth Primary School , with the help of Braishfield Bees Youth FC, have turned the girls’ dreams into reality by showing that girls can play football!

This is not only a fantastic way to keep the children active but to see them have fun as well.

Braishfield Bees YFC are helping to coach football to the next generation of footballers!

The new term started with years 2, 3 and 4 being able to join in the lunchtime football coaching. The girls have been learning some great ball control, passing, and dribbling and of course let us not forgot the match to end with!

Claire, the Braishfield Bees YFC U8s girls coach approached the school to add this to extra activities curriculum as it’s a passion of hers to see more girls take up the opportunities that are opening up for them in girls’ football. Claire watched (and attended some) all the Euros games with her daughter and, saw how much it inspired her daughter and thought if it could inspire just two girls from each age group of the school then, England winning the Euros and the legacy it has created will have has done its job!

Since September term started, both Halterworth School and Claire have been working together to ensure this happens.

Phil Thomas said ‘We are thrilled to be able to work alongside Braishfield Bees Youth FC to offer this additional opportunity. Sport provides so many opportunities for children to learn about themselves, and develop skills in co-operation, teamwork, communication, reacting to feedback and coping with defeat and success. We are very fortunate to be in a town with so many opportunities for our young people, and so many thoughtful people willing to volunteer and give up their time to help.”

Bees Football Development Officer Gary Brown added ‘It’s fantastic to be able to support the school and deliver football sessions for the girls. As a local club in the community, we are able to give the support and sessions free in the knowledge that we’re giving something to the girls and supporting their ambition in wanting to play football.’
