As a Club, we held our annual 6-a-side tournament on the 4th September and in line with our pledge to donate 5% of proceeds raised from team entry fees to health related charities, we raised £258 (thank you to all teams that attended).
The Club then agreed to match fund the monies up to £500 and as a result, two Charities will benefit from £250 each.
Today, Ady Moore (Club Founder & Honorary Chairman) and Mike Osborne (Club Secretary) presented the second of the donations to Mountbatten Hospice.
Liz Arnold, Director of Nursing said, “We are really grateful to Braishfield Bees FC for their donation to Mountbatten Hampshire.”
“Our services are free to everyone but without the support from our local communities, we simply could not help the growing number of people who need us across Southampton and west Hampshire.
“A donation of £250 pays for a Mountbatten nurse to be with a dying person at home during the night, ensuring they are not alone.
“The donation really makes a difference, so thank you to the players and the club for thinking of Mountbatten.”
Tournament Organiser, Julian Jones added “It is wonderful that we find ourselves in the enviable position whereby we can help such fantastic charities that do so much in the local area. As a Community Club we wanted to give something back to the community on the back of another successful event. Next year we hope to raise even more money for local good causes from what will be a 2 day event held over the weekend of 3rd/4th September 2022”
